Operation mode and economic analysis of a new fire pool cold storage system

The design idea of using fire pools for cold storage has been applied to a large number of engineering examples. However, in some existing cases, when the water temperature in the fire pool exceeds 12 ℃, the continuous use of it will be stopped, which leads to the waste of low-grade cold source. In view of this phenomenon, the strategy of parallel operation of cooling tower and fire pool is proposed, and the low-grade cold source of fire pool is used to reduce the cooling water temperature, so as to improve the operation COP of the chiller and reduce the operation cost. The design condition of a specific project in Xi’an Xixian New Area is analysed, and the results show that when the inlet temperature of the condenser decreases by 0.5 ℃, the heat dissipation ratio of cooling water borne by the fire pool increases by about 10%. Compared with the conventional chiller system, the average annual operation cost of this system is reduced by about 112 100 yuan under the design condition, the static payback period is 5.5 years, and the economic benefits are good.
